OS/X and default font printing?

How do I control the default font that OS/X uses to print certain application outputs. E.G. I recently added a dozen new fonts to my font library. Now when I print out a NY Times crossword puzzle generated by the application Across Lite, it always uses a font that is extremely difficult to read. (I've attempted to use my iPhone and "WhatTheFont" to identify the font, but with no success, but it is not one of the fonts that I added to my font library). Ironically, the crossword puzzle that appears on my iMac's screen has a normal Arial-type font, but the one that prints out is different (ugly and distorted), and Across Lite does not have a feature that permits one to choose the printable font - the printed font seems to be generated by OS/X and I have no idea how to change the OS/X default setting. Can you help, please? Thanks for any advice.
