I have a local ISP here in rural Maine with no DSL or cable. I recently signed up with HughesNet. While it is faster than dialup it is still very slow.

I am using the latest version of Apple Mail with a pop account. It will download my mail with the satellite connection but gives an error message sending mail.

I tried disabling ssl, changing ports, entering smtp.hughes.net and setting up a entirely different account in Mail for HughesNet.

It just won’t work.

After googling this I tried some of the suggestions offered to no avail.

I want to use Hughes but I want to keep my old email address active and not have to use web mail.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Also has anyone set up HogWasher for UseNet with HughesNet?
