I have been a Mac user since almost the beginning. I remember updates from OS 7 to 8 and then to 9 and the problems with each one. I am still using OS 9 on my old machine. I purchased a MacBook Pro, intel dual processor, about three years ago and it came loaded with OS X Tiger. I could not be happier with the machine and OS X. However, as with the older OS's, I'm beginning to experience apps that require 10.5 or higher and I am "considering" updating to the latest Snow Leopard. But, remembering all the problems that I had with the previous system updates, I am very anxious about doing this. As I recall it was mostly driver problems. I remember one upgrade where there was no print driver available and I had to return to the older OS after a lot of troubleshooting. What I'm asking is what do you think or know about the problems associated with an update like this? Maybe I would have fewer problems if I just went one jump up to 10.5 and wait for app developers to catch up? I could just stay as I am, with Tiger. Everything is just the way I like it. It's just every now and then I see an app that I would like to take down and use only to discover "10.5 or above". The latest is a Turbo Tax Quicken for Mac download that I had been eagerly awaiting is (rats) "10.5 or above". I know that I'm going to have to step up one of these days, but I really don't like messy upgrades. Anyway, if you guys have a minute, I would like to read what you think. Thanks.
