I was given one of these cute relics a couple of weeks ago. It had OS 9 on it, which I have no experience with. My first notion was to take the hard drive for another laptop, but after removing it I changed my mind. I decided ti install Panther so I could use the iBook as a netbook for travel.( I hate taking my MacBook out of the house).

Anyway, when I put it all back together I had a problem. The thing will fire up, HHD spins, keyboad LEDs light up, but the monitor remains black, and there is no chime.

The only thing I did different was not to reinstall the modem because I intend to use it wirelessly.

I thought it was a memory issue, but that is soldered to the logic board, and when I put an extra 32mb in with no effect.

Any ideas?
