I've checked the preferences and Network WPA password and all is correct.
I've tried rebooting both the MacBook and my Router.
I've tried downloading 'Stumbler' which someone suggested.
Still no go.

I have a MacBook running 10.5.8 and an iPhone 3GS. I recently bought an Airport Express because I was having trouble connecting my business laptop (Windows), my MacBook, and my iPhone all at the same time. I figured my Linksys router was a couple of years old, so that had to be the problem. The Airport Express worked great for the first month or so, but now, I'm having the same issue again! I can connect to my wireless network on my iPhone and my business laptop, but when I try to connect with my MacBook, I keep getting prompted to input my WPA password and I get a connection timeout message. Periodically I can get online after hitting Try Again over, and over, and over, but this is getting ridiculous. I don't know how I can troubleshoot this from home because I can't get online with the MacBook unless I use the ethernet, but then I'm not really troubleshooting the wireless network - HELP!

I'm running a network from my desktop Mac (Tiger) using an internal Apple Airport card (serving as the base station). When my MacBook Pro w/Snow Leopard is powered up, it sees my network, I put in my password but then it eventually does not connect due to "connection timeout." I checked the Airport card yesterday and all seems okay, no loose connections. If it's going bad, I don't know how I'd check that. However, it has no problem being turned on from the Menu bar and, like I said, the MBP does see the network. I just can't connect this way. In connecting the MBP to other networks at other locations, I have no problem at all. That makes me think something has gone awry with my home network. But what?

Suggestions welcome!

I have had this problem also. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro in the past month and it always found a network automatically to connect. However after updating to OS X 10.5.3 and 10.5.4, it is missing automatic connecting about 50% of the time. What will happen is that I will be within a newtork and it will try and connect automatically and after just a about 5-10 seconds, I get a 'time-out' message. Yet, my available networks are always listed. I've tried a variety of discussion groups with Apple, and third-parties, but no one has given a specific response to this issue. It seems to only be happening to MacBook Pro users, and should be addressed by Apple directly.

I'd love to hear from anybody that either has this problem or was able to fix it. Other than this problem, the MacBook Pro is a pleasure to work with.

I have what I believe to be the most simple network arrangement: cable modem > DHCP Router > Ethernet network > Airport Base Station. I have a Dell laptop and external disk hanging off the back of the base station, and a Macbook connected directly to the network.

I have configured the base station to "bridge" all connections and let the router handle DHCP. The entire system is working perfectly for the two wired connections hanging off it, and for anything that does not require wireless...

However, whenever I disconnect my Macbook from the ethernet and attempt to connect wirelessly, no dice. The Airport connection pane either reports a "Connection Timeout" or "Invalid password". Sometimes the network status screen shows "AirPort has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet" but even when it shows the correct "AirPort is connected to RedApple Wireless and has the IP address 192.168.0.8." I cannot get out on the internet. The Airport regularly loses connectivity and reports "AirPort is turned on but is not connected to a network." Clicking the wireless dropdown shows that the Airport base station is no longer being seen, even though a portable locator will see it just 3 feet away from the Macbook.

I have reset my base station to default settings several times, only changing the network name, bridge, and WPA password, and I KNOW the passwords are correct.

Help anyone? What am I missing here?

TIA, Pete MacLachlan

I have a new Macbook Pro that I cannot get to connect to my Netgear WGR614v7 wireless router utilizing the built-in Airport. When I try to connect, whether I have the security enabled on the router or not, it tries to connect and eventually tells me "Connection Timeout." When I use my other laptop (a Macbook), I can connect with no problem. Using my MBP, I can connect wirelessly at other locations, and I can connect at home using a network cable. So there seems to be some sort of disconnect between my Netgear router and my Macbook Pro. Does anyone else have this problem?
