Jeesh! No matter what I do I just cant get the latest QT update to take. To avoid conflicts with QT X I had to move QT Pro 7.6.4 out of the Applications folder.

The problem: Software Update didn't update QT Pro during the 10.6.3 go around. So I downloaded the standalone QT 7.6.6 installer and it tells me "QuickTime can't be installed this disk because QT X is already present". So, I move QT X onto the desktop and I still get the same results.

So, how do I update QT 7 Pro?????

Hey guys, I just wanted to post to see if you could help me with a problem. I upgraded to snow leopard a couple of days ago and it works fine. But when I tried to update the software from 10.6 to 10.6.2 it'll download for about 30 minutes and then it will say Download Successful. But then it says it needs to restart and then it'll says Image Disk Failure and the Upgrade didn't download successfully. I have tried this both from clicking the Apple then scrolling down to Software Update and also from Apple's Website using the combined update. Anyone else encounter this problem? And is there a fix to it?

Just so you know I have a late 2008 Unibody Aluminum Macbook that I bought about a month before they started calling it a Macbook Pro and adding the light up keys and whatnot. It was running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8 before I upgraded.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I have a dual G5 tower that was running server 10.5.7. There are two drives with a raid mirror configuration.

When I did a software update to 10.5.8, the machine would no longer boot.

It did boot off of the DVD, so I took it to the Genius Bar and they found the raid broken and did something to make it boot. But the raid was not active, but that is ok.

The boot drive was then at 10.5.8 so the update must have worked, but the mirror drive showed 10.5.7. his was probably the problem.

I unplugged the mirror drive so no interference would occur. It booted fine.

Like a fool I tried another update: Quicktime, iTunes and a security Update for 10.5.8

Now it again won't boot.

I am not server trained not a Unix guy, so I am struggling.

Any advice of what to do or where to go for answers or information?

The Genius bar folks don't want to support Server software problems!

Thanks,

I am running an PowerBook G4 1.67 MHz hi-res PowerBook running OS Leopard 10.5.8 . I did an archive and install to put my OS 10.5.8 on this machine. everything was working fine including playing store bought DVD movies. The last update that I did (using Software Update) told me that the update called --- " Installed "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6" (1.0) Now when I try to play a movie disc, it says that it is unreadable. Is there a way that I can undo this update ? My next option I guess is to do another archive and install again. I'm trying to save all my emails and iTunes songs.
Thanks for the help info in advance.
Sincerely, JLake04

Hello! I have a MacBookPro 2.53 and just now after closing Firefox the OS-X software update window came up wanting to download 4 items including some "digital camera" something or other. (My memory is hazy.) I said okay, it was 7 megs, then a restart, everything fine. But, as it was happening I realized it never said "from Apple" and I got suspicious and went to Apple and I can't find any reference to an approx 7 meg update package for "digital camera". I have auto-update set for once a week on Saturday, so I would assume whatever this was must've just come out. Am I worrying over nothing? Any history of malicious hijacking of auto-update?

Can/should I force a download through Apple's site (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL975) ? If I try to force it, am I putting

After installing the Security Update 2009-006 (via Software Update) for 10.5.8, none of my external FW disks will mount on the desktop!

I have OWC FW drives (one on the 400 bus and one on the 800 FW bus) running on a Mac Pro, dual 2.7 ghz PPC G5.

This problem is not solved by: Disconnecting, reconnecting the drives or restarting the computer.

System Profiler (Firewire) states "Unable to list any firewire devices" although they are properly connected and powered.

Both FW drives mount easily when connected to my MacBook Pro, so the issue is not with the externals or cables.

Any suggestions? I need these drives for backup and large file access, and am in a world of hurt right now.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
